7 Things That Are Helping Me Lose Weight During Lockdown

I have always had a tendency to gain weight and that is the reason over a period of time I learned some hacks that I diligently follow to stay on track. With lockdown I have been hearing people piling on kilos because they cannot step out and are losing whatever little motivation they had regarding weight loss. I have lost 1.5 kilos during lockdown and here are some tips and strategies that I am following and you can too

​Fill three bottles of water in the morning

Have one liter of water the moment you wake up and at the same time fill three more bottles for the day and keep it next to your work laptop with a glass. In one bottle, you can add some mint and lime or add Himalayan salt to it. Make sure by 7 in the evening, you finish it all.

​Skip breakfast

Most people will come charging at me for this advice but it has worked great for me. I follow intermittent fasting of 16 hours and skip my breakfast. On days when I feel really hungry, I have a cup of black coffee (without sugar) and it is enough to curb my hunger. It may feel tough in the first week but soon you will be habitual and you won’t miss your breakfast anymore.

500 jumps through the day/200 stairs

Since we can’t really workout during lockdown, I make sure that this is the minimum I do every single day. It isn’t necessary that you do it all together (if you can, great!) but you can scatter it through the day.

Create a diet/fitness journal

You must have heard this piece of advice before but it is the most legit and important step to staying fit. Write down everything you eat, whatever you drink, and your workout/activity level and trust me looking at it before heading to bed will make you want to do better the next day.

Surround yourself with healthy indulgences

Ever since the lockdown, while half the world is trying fine cuisine, others are struggling with their daily meals. Many are skipping meals and resorting to unhealthy snacks. So to avoid yourself from picking unhealthy foods like chips etc, store healthy snacks like peanuts, makhana, cheese slices to banish untimely cravings. You can also keep a bottle of chaach or lemon juice in your refrigerator so you reach out to them instead of colas.

Walk while you talk

While we all are doing household chores, this simple habit will also help in breaking down calories of the day. Everytime you talk to someone, walk instead of sitting. It’s getting tough for us to get to 10,000 steps but doing this will take you closer to your target.

Sleep in a dark room

Yes, sleep is important for weight loss. No matter how much you undermine it. Ensure your room is dark and adequately cold to help you get a good sleep. Lack of sleep also leads to weight gain and restlessness through the day.
